Paul Nichols

Beyond the Headlines: Brining Together Data and People to Improve Public Safety Outcomes

 


Paul Nichols is a deputy program director for Justice Reinvestment Ripening with the CSG Justice Center. He works with the CSG team to use informative data to help to move state legislators toward adopting important justice system reforms. Prior to joining the CSG Justice Center, he held various leadership positions in the New York State Senate, where he played a role in bringing meaningful reforms to the justice system, such as ensuring voting rights for the formerly incarcerated and preventing anti-employment discrimination against individuals with a criminal record. He also once served as the director of a local community center where he created programs to give positive options for at-risk youth, while also providing job training and job placement programs. An attorney, Nichols has worked in the New York State Supreme Court, in the U.S. Congress, and for a corporate law firm. He received his bachelor’s degree from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and his juris doctorate from New York Law School.
