Carolyn Jackson was first elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 2018. The Democrat from Hammond currently serves as assistant minority whip and as ranking democrat on the Elections and Apportionment Committee. She also is a member of the Environmental Affairs Committee; the Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee; and the Natural Resources Committee. Jackson currently serves as Vice Chair of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus. She is a former adult probation officer and supervisor, former member of the Hammond High Parent/Teachers Advisory Board, and the past president of the board of directors for the Community Center Development Corporation and Hammond Library Advisory Board.
