Laura Faver Dias
Laura Faver Dias has a bachelor’s degree in secondary social studies education from Indiana University and a master’s degree in bicultural education from Wayne State University. Before joining the Illinois House of Representatives, she held her social studies teaching license from 2005-2017 and taught in high poverty, under-resourced schools. In 2018, she served on the Economic Development Commission of Grayslake before being elected as a Grayslake village trustee in April 2021. Faver Dias was elected to the Illinois House in 2022 and currently serves on five committees: Child Care Access & Early Childhood, Energy & Environment, Elementary Secondary Education: School Curriculum & Policies, State Government, and Elementary & Secondary Education Appropriations. Her work in the Statehouse has included expanding women’s health coverage, children’s health, education and literacy issues, and several environmental initiatives. She lives in Grayslake with her husband and twin 10-year-old boys. Faver Dias is a 2023 graduate of the Bowhay Institute.
